
Riot Act, Inc. presents our Annual Series of Short Plays September 17-20 at 7:00pm nightly in Riot Act’s Studio 305 in the Center for the Arts.

Riot Act, Inc. is thrilled to produce the winners of its Annual New Play Festival. Several original works were submitted for the contest and judges ultimately selected three short plays to be produced as part of Riot Act’s Annual Series of Shorts. The first-place winner will receive $200 and the Marius P. Hanford IV Award. Marius was a longtime stage combat choreographer influential in several theater communities, including Jackson and New York. The second place will receive $100 and third place will be awarded $50.
The audience will choose first, second, and third place playwright via vote.

More Than A Ghost Story by Tami Canaday of CO
Dana and Jam are staying at Dana’s remote cabin on a snowy night and decide to share ghost stories as they wait for friends to arrive. As they delve into their tales, including one about a real murder, it becomes clear that one of them is hiding a dark secret. The secret draws real ghosts to the cabin, turning their night into a chilling encounter with the supernatural.

Wake Up Calls by Gale Alexander of WY
Three generations of women, separated by miles, maintain connection through a daily ritual of morning phone calls. When a family crisis shifts the relational dynamics in their circle of three, they are awakened to see that time brings change to bodies, minds, roles and priorities. Even phone technologies upgrade, but the pure power of the human voice remains the lifeline we reach for in a crisis.

A Lone Ranch in the Middle Of Nowhere by Georgie Armstrong of WY
A young family navigating life on a rugged, rural ranch in Idaho.

We will have a short intermission between each Short Play.
Tickets are available in advance online at www.riotactinc.org or at the door. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students/seniors.
Riot Act, Inc. T-shirts and Stickers plus Concessions will be available before each performance and during intermission.
Short plays allow the audience to taste several small bites of theatre in one evening. Mature content, parental guidance is suggested.
