Riot Act, Inc.
is pleased to announce its third annual
New Play Festival
New, short plays by local writers are sought for production in Riot Act’s Spring Series of Shorts in June 2016.
Riot Act seeks to foster new work, provide opportunities for playwrights to see their work produced, and stimulate an interest in contemporary theatre in Jackson audiences.
Schedule:
Contest opens January 1, 2016.
Manuscripts and entries must be submitted by March 1, 2016.
Winners will be notified by March 30, 2016
Up to four plays will be chosen for production in June 2016.
Basic Guidelines:
Entry fee $30.
Plays must run 20-30 minutes in total (20-30 pages).
Plays can require no more than six actors.
Set and props should be simple and must be easily moved.
No more than 1 set change or 2 total sets allowed.
Playwrights must be residents of the community.
Plays must have never been previously published or performed.
